Okanagan Grocery Artisan Breads

Since 2004, Okanagan Grocery Artisan Breads has been one of the best sources for hand-baked breads in the Okanagan. This tiny Kelowna bakery, located in Guisachan Village beside Codfathers has loyal customers arriving early every day so as to not miss out on the fresh breads (over ten varieties baked daily). In addition to the regular lineup of baguettes, focaccia and loaves, owner Monika Walker does daily specials. Tuesday was fragrant potato and scallion sourdough, a trip back to childhood with Thursday’s peanut butter and jelly loaf (best washed down with a glass of milk), and it’s-all-about-butter Saturday’s with hand-shaped butter croissants, pain au chocolat and heavenly brioche. Okanagan Grocery Artisan breads is also home to gourmet cheeses, soups and artisan jams.

How do you improve upon perfection?  By opening a second airy location, complete with a collection of antique toasters, an open kitchen, and a bright yellow wall. Okanagan Grocery Artisan Breads’ second location is located at 115-1979 Windsor Road. Open at 7am, happy customers can enjoy croissants straight from the oven and a cup of coffee for a wonderful start to the day. Following in the footsteps of famed San Francisco Tartine Bakery, Monika offers customers the chance to enjoy fresh baked bread straight from the oven after 3pm. Nothing warms a cold dark winter afternoon than a loaf of hot baked bread – simply add soup for a gourmet dinner where bread takes the centre stage.

Bread is an affordable luxury, so treat yourself – you deserve the very best.
