Job Offer: Director of Business Development (Victoria) for EAT

EAT Magazine is looking for a part-time Director of Business Development (Victoria). Could develop into full time for the right person.

EAT Magazine is ranked as one of the top food and wine magazines in British Columbia. Celebrating 17 years in print, EAT’s time-tested mission is to cover the conversations of the day with creative insight and fresh perspective. As a key member of the EAT team, you will be responsible for developing new revenue streams to Victoria and British Columbia businesses for EAT Magazine, EAT online and The EAT Journal. You’ll be one of the primary points of contact for our clients, helping to identify sales opportunities, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction within your portfolio.

We are looking for candidates who have a tenacious desire to win and thrive in a sales environment where success is rewarded.

Job duties would include:

  • Meet or exceed bi-monthly revenue goals, through account development and new business
  • Developing creative and unique special features, special issues, sponsorships and co-op advertising initiatives
  • Generate leads for local restaurants and food and drink businesses and develop successful advertising sales partnerships
    • Build and foster relationships with potential clients to introduce EAT advertising solutions
  • Developing new revenue streams in the areas of digital, co-branding, strategic partnerships and event production.
    • Finding new publishing opportunities through a variety of marketing methods including email, networking and calling.
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.

Qualifications:

  • Track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals
  • Closing Skills, Excellent Networking Skills, Prospecting Skills, Negotiation Skills, Self-Confidence, Product Knowledge, Presentation Skills, Client Relationships, and Motivation for Sales
  • • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Existing relationships in key industries
  • Highly motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit; ability to take ownership and work independently to meet performance goals
  • Media sales background recommended, though not necessary
  • Excellent and persuasive communication skills and consultative selling strength, including an ability to create and deliver convincing arguments verbally and in writing
  • A strong understanding of digital publishing, advertising and/or e-commerce industries and metrics recommended though not necessary
  • True service ethic, generous nature, and gracious sense of humour
