Okanagan Weekly Planner: Jan 15 – 22nd

Sure to eliminate any January blues, the annual Thompson/Okanagan Wine & Dine Event starts on Wednesday, January 18th and runs until Sunday, February 5th.  Participating restaurants offer specially created menus that include an appetizer, entrée, and dessert with set price points of $15.00, $25.00 or $35.00 plus tax and gratuity.  BC VQA wine pairings are also suggested for each dish. Highlights include Bogners of Penticton and Kelowna’s Wild Apple at Manteo Resort who both offer outstanding value with their evening set menus starting at the $15.00 price point.

 

To the delight of loyal customers, Kelowna’s Rotten Grape  is now open for lunch and includes either a handmade latte or cappuccino as an appetizer for their participating $15.00 set lunch menu. For the complete list of over 50 participating restaurants and menus click here.

 

Wine lovers should head to the mountains for Sun Peaks’ 14th Annual Winter Okanagan Wine Festival, running from Saturday, January 14th to Sunday, January 22nd. The resort offers skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating, and evening sleigh rides – allowing everyone to experience the snow along with wonderful wine and food events. Highlights include the après ski event, From Russia with Love, featuring bubbly from Summerhill Pyramid Winery and vodka from Kelowna-based Urban Distilleries, and the flagship event, the Sun Peaks Progressive Tasting, where guests wander throughout the alpine village tasting wines from over 20 Okanagan wineries. Your wine tasting/meadering is followed by the Progressive Tasting Afterparty at Globe Café & Tapas.
