Theatre in the Vines

scenes from Twisted Tree's production of Wilde in the Winery: An Ideal Husband, presented at Township 7

This summer, both Vancouver Island’s Muse Winery  and the Okanagan & Langley based Township 7 celebrated their second seasons of live outdoor theatre performances. Muse Winery presented the Peninsula Players  “Gone with the Wine” while Bistro Muse offered a delightful 3 course prix-fixe dinner for guests on the lovely outdoor patio. Township 7 Winery presented Twisted Tree Theatre’s performance of Wilde at the Winery: “An Ideal Husband”, and provided table and chairs for theatre-goers to enjoy their own picnic prior to the performance.

Guests took elaborate steps to set up their picnic tables with tablecloths, flowers, napkins and cutlery while others lounged on colorful picnic blankets. Several groups of friends enjoyed the picnic potluck and judging from the food at the table this was all about upstaging your neighbor’s dish. A break for intermission allowed for beautiful desserts to come out of picnic baskets and coolers. The best thing about attending outdoor theatre at a winery is that you don’t have to smuggle in the wine. Looking forward to next season.
