“ako Daikon – Today’s lunch special at Uchida Eatery”

Run by local food blogger Michelle Collyer this account will take you all around the city and introduce you to fabulous places for lunch, show you where to enjoy a beach-side coffee, and remind you (if you needed any more reminding) that we live in a truly stunning food city. The photography is colourful, fun and inspired. You’ll also be able to see some of Michelle’s personal cooking endeavours as well, such as her NewYear’s Eve kimchi meatballs.  You can also check out her blog here: gratitudeforlocalfood.com

There is no bio on this account but I can tell you that if this guy is only keeps his cooking to the homestead then he is in the wrong business! @pjdias87 features beautifully plated dishes and ambitious kitchen projects that tackle a range of different cultural approaches to home cooking, from jerk rubs to curries to Moroccan inspired dishes. This account is about 90% food with a few personal photos thrown in. Apparently this home chef enjoys rock climbing and shooting guns from time to time. A man of adventurous tastes…

Piper_noir84 showcases posts on food, style, and fashion (but its about 75% food). In her own words, Piper has “strong vegetarian tendencies” so you will find lovely and well composed photos of vegetarian fair in and around the city. As much as people give instagrammers a hard time for using filters she is nothing but consistent in her use of the Gingham filter, which gives her pics a nice polished finish. 10/10 would follow.

Instagram @fancy_frites "Sometimes it's the simple things in life. I had canned mussels at Perro Negro and fell in love. Good quality canned mussels almost have a goat cheese type taste to it but in the best way possible. Paired with crusty bread it makes for a great snack! I bought these here in Spain today ~$4"

I just had to include this one: three friends, living in three different places, all lovers of food, get together to Instagram food featured in their respective cities (Victoria, San Francisco and Seattle). Yes, there are plenty of wonderful food photos from Victoria, but you also get to live vicariously through the other posters (Felix Chen, San Francisco and Taylor Page, Seattle) as they eat out, cook in, and travel to some amazing destinations. They also have a great little food blog. Head over to http://fancyfrites.com where you will find a recent post entitled “Best Bacon in Victoria”.  Not that I have to twist your arm, or anything.

Chantal is a dedicated food photographer who regularly recreates recipes from popular websites all over the internet (the Smitten Kitchen seems to be a favourite). She is a craft beer, wine, and spirits rep so this is a lady who knows her way around the culinary world. Beautiful shots of home cooking and food from around the city.
