Now in its seventh season, it is a place where “people of all ages come together to be nourished in soul, body and spirit”. Each year, the farm has seen a significant increase in production and shareholders, now supplying 200 families in the Cowichan Valley with produce boxes 24 weeks of the year through their Alderlea Farm Community Supported Agriculture program. With a new greenhouse, they plan to extend the season and supply more vegetables throughout the winter as well. This Saturday, September 17th, the farm will be hosting a Borscht Festival. Contact the farm to enter your best borscht – judging will begin at noon. There will also be a Borscht Cooking Demonstration, a Farm Parade led by Farmer John, Jersey the Cow, and the borscht competition champion, as well as hayrides for all. Admission is $3 per individual or $10 per family.Visit www.alderleafarm.com to learn more.
