Cake by Taryn Valentine’s Day Pop-up

With Valentine’s Day comes cake! And flowers. And many other gifts that are made consciously and locally.

On Feb 14th, I visited Taryn Haywood as she gathered a few friends for a little pop-up at the old Daisy Chain flower shop on Fort Street.

In attendance were Annise from Bespoke Blossoms, who provided a ‘selfie wall’ of greenery and some of her gorgeous arrangements; Décor by Nature, offering many beautiful pieces of original and whimsical home décor; Miiko Skin Co., a locally  made line of natural skin care and the most unique new product – BathBombCards, an assortment of greeting cards that you put directly into your bath like a bath bomb! Very creative.

Although I arrived a bit late to the party, the shelves still had quite an array of cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, flowers and more. The skies had opened up that day with a second snowstorm that week, so it was a bit tough for we delicate Victorians to get around; however, the day before had been very busy according to Taryn, so I hope the little collaborative shop pops up again.

I went home with some cake pops, cookies and brownies, perfect for tasting and sharing and a great introduction to a fantastic new source of sweets. Taryn takes care of wedding cakes, party cakes, office orders and more. You can reach her at cakebytaryn.com and find her on social media at @cake_bytaryn
