Gary Hynes, Editor-in-ChiefGary Hynes, a writer and photographer, founded EAT magazine in 1998 and is its editor and chief paperboy. He studied Electronic Music with Samuel Dolan at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music, Audio Recording Technology at Ryerson University, and Photography and Journalism at Camosun College. He has worked in radio and theatre, was the guitarist in Horn, played synthesizer with the Doppler Brothers and bass for Minutes from Downtown. After working as the sommelier at Palmerston Restaurant with chef Jamie Kennedy, Gary and his wife moved to Nova Scotia and opened the Cooper’s Inn and Restaurant, where Gary was the chef and received a star in Where To Eat in Canada and the Built Heritage Award from the Government of Nova Scotia. He has written for NW Palate, Western Living, West Coast and Century Home magazines and conceived and edited the award-winning wine book, Island Wineries of British Columbia. He lives, breathes, and eats in Victoria, BC.
