Written By Guest Writer Chefs / Folks / Reporter Jan 11, 2012 Date Night At Lure Restaurant and Lounge SHARE VIA: Facebook Twitter PinterestGreat food, spectacular wine and a breathtaking view are a foolproof recipe for a successful date, and at Lure Restaurant and Lounge, you can have all that and more. Lure is known for its fresh, local and eclectic menu, exceptional service and elegant ambiance, and whether you’re starting your night off with a glass of champagne on your way to a show at the McPherson Playhouse, or ending your night with a shared plate of something sweet and decadent, this fine dining destination promises a night of romance. Lure’s motto of “our kitchen is your kitchen” makes for options suited to even the most specific of needs, including a full celiac menu to avoid any worries of having a not-so-sexy medical emergency. The property makes your night even more fuss-free with complementary parking for patrons – an absolute luxury considering how close they are to downtown Victoria. A minute’s stroll across the beloved Blue Bridge or a cozy harbour ferry ride will bring you to your post-dinner destination without the hassle of paying for parking Lure has all that figured out for you, and will gladly allow you to keep your car safely tucked away in their covered lot in case you decide to go for that extra glass (or bottle) of wine. Even more convenient is that Lure is in fact part of the beautiful Delta Ocean Point Resort & Spa, which makes for a particularly romantic end to your date. For a truly memorable evening, start your night off with a stroll along the gorgeous waterfront of the Songhees. A perfect way to chat with your mate without any distractions, this waterfront jaunt will also work up your appetite before indulging in some delicious drinks and cuisine. Once back at the restaurant, take a seat at their cocktail bar where head mixologist Dirk VanderWal will mix you up a Cory Heart of Tanqueray gin, cilantro, fresh lime, ginger syrup, lemongrass bitters and soda. Or if you don’t see anything on their list that suits, bartenders at Lure are more than happy to create an original mix based on your personal preferences. Once at your table, sample some of Restaurant Chef Dan Bain’s Ahi tuna tartar with baby frisée, a soy-chili marinade, pickled ginger, and a sprouted wheat crostini, or their scallops served with local apples three ways, including an apple-celery root purée, apple confit base and Strongbow cider reduction. For a richly flavoured main that won’t leave you feeling too heavy, try their smoked Queen Charlotte Islands sablefish, accompanied by watercress and bacon ravioli, cipollini confit, orange-scented parsnip purée, and a citrus-ginger marmalade. For an easy companion to light fish and other seafood, order a bottle of Alderlea Vineyards Bacchus, a rich, dry and juicy wine from Vancouver Island’s own Cowichan Valley. If you’re not interested in a whole bottle, this wine and many others also come in a half litre, a glass, and even a 1 oz serving if you’re looking for a tasting option. Lure’s resident sommelier, Jacques Lacoste is more than happy to assist guests in picking the perfect wine paring for appetizers, mains, desserts, or simply something to sip on as you watch the sunset over the Inner Harbour. And if you’re feeling particularly daring, or want to make a lasting impression on your date, he’ll even sabre a bottle of bubbly for you. Top your romantic evening with Lure’s rich and fudgy flourless chocolate cake -since no date would be complete without some sensually sinful chocolaty extravagance.
