Evans & Tate Margaret River Chardonnay 2007

Margaret River, Australia

$20-24 +379149

It’s ok to do white after Labour Day.  The arrival of cool autumn eves and drizzly days call for comforting and warming reds, but don’t bid farewell to white wines. Especially structured whites like this Margaret River Chardonnay.

Margaret River is at the southern tip of Western Australia (geographically akin to Vancouver Island in Canada). Typically known for their elegant and ripe Cabernet Sauvignon, the region is also becoming increasingly recognized for its whites – especially the concentrated but not cloying Chardonnay. Evans & Tate exemplify this trait – focusing on maximizing fruit while maintaining finesse. Bright lemon, lush white peach and apricot fuzz lead to a complex and creamy, medium bodied palate of lemon, nutty lees, zesty pineapple and herbs. Stylish and focused, with bright acid and a refreshing finish – a white that will be welcome in any season. This fall, pair with local halibut.
