That’s when we came up with the idea of an on-line auction,” says Bonita Magee, of Grounded in Vancouver, one of Mise En Place’s organizers. From noon on October 6 through noon on October 19 the public can log on to the auction website and bid, bid, bid on unique travel and food packages donated by Chef Tina’s friends and colleagues. The auction will start with three confirmed packages and it is anticipated that more will be added as they are confirmed. The public are encouraged to check the auction site and Mise En Place’s Facebook page daily to see what new prizes have been added. Background:Chef Tina Fineza was diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 bilateral breast cancer in June of 2014. Tina’s treatment consists of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation which will result in her taking a leave of absence from her company, Service Excellence, for a minimum of 1 year. Although this prognosis is severe, Tina’s passion and drive will see her through this challenging time. Her years spent working with fellow chefs she admired in kitchen brigades throughout Vancouver such as Lumière, Diva at the Met and Bin 942 have provided her with the building blocks she needs to face this battle. Your love, support and financial help will lessen the strain of the exhausting journey ahead. We leave you with one of Tina’s favourite quotes: “Not Everybody can be famous. But everybody can be great, because greatness is determined by service.” – Martin Luther King SHARE VIA: Facebook Twitter Pinterest Written By: Colin Hynes Colin is the Assistant Editor at EAT.
