Mustard Seed Food Bank and Tourism Victoria Partner for Food Drive

What: The Mustard Seed, in its continuous efforts to collect food and finance donations, has partnered with Tourism Victoria as part of National Tourism Week. The Tourism Week Food Drive Challenge encourages Tourism Victoria members and the public to make food and/or cash donations at Tourism Victoria’s Visitor Centre. Tourism Week 2011 starts Monday, June 6 and continues through Sunday, June 12.

Where: Tourism Victoria Visitor Centre, 812 Wharf Street

When: Kick-off Event on Monday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m.

Join Brent Palmer, Food Bank Director of The Mustard Seed and Helen Welch, Vice President, Visitor Services & Market Development of Tourism Victoria as the donation bin is dropped off at the Visitor Centre and the Food Drive Challenge Begins!

Celebration & Donation Drop Off on Friday, June 10 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Tourism Victoria members and industry partners will drop off their food/cash donations at a special celebration event featuring ice cream provided by Island Farms and special prizes donated by our generous members.

Who: A partnership The Mustard Seed and Tourism Victoria with Island Farms sponsoring the Friday event.

Why: The Mustard Seed Food Bank exists to serve people of all ages. Each month over 7,000 people benefit from The Mustard Seed’s services including grocery hampers full of nutritional food. Each week, the organization receives donations of food and finances from the caring citizens and concerned companies of Victoria as well as from generous Canadian food manufacturers. These consistent donations enable The Mustard Seed to have food on the shelves and in refrigerators.
