SaltSpring Kitchen Co. is an artisanal food production company that specializes in savoury jams and chutneys for pairing with cheese and charcuterie. Melanie Mulherin started selling her creations at the Salt Spring Saturday Market in 2012 and found a loyal following, both from customers at her booth and through the Salt Spring Cheese Company. Bit by bit, the company grew until Melanie was able to share her love of canning with jam aficionados across BC and Canada.

Melanie learned the joy of preserving from her mother-in-law in the early 2000’s. She soon began to experiment with recipes to make them her own and started using her Spicy Tomato Savoury Spread in her family’s restaurant. It is still the company’s best seller today.

Melanie has since developed a line of preserves and hot sauces that customers enjoy with cheese and charcuterie, as accompaniments to meals, in cocktails, and, of course, on toast. Her Sweet, Savoury, Spicy, Hot Sauce, and Winter Collections all contain inventive varieties that people love to enjoy themselves or give as presents. Gift box trios are also available and correspond to each collection; even a stocking-stuffer sized Winter Collection!
