Sips and Seafood at TASTE 2012

Taste Victoria is coming up from July 19 to 22, and Chef Ito of Aura Restaurant at the Inn at Laurel Point prepared some previews of what he’ll be serving at the 5th Annual Sips and Seafood on July 20 at a recent launch party. Tiny smoked tuna sandwiches with shiso mayonnaise were served, this Japanese herb a nod to Chef Ito’s heritage. Those were but a brief distraction from flambéed side-striped shrimp with garlic butter, miniature halibut fish and chips, and sashimi tuna marinade.

Sips and Seafood will be at the Inn at Laurel Point from 6:30 to 9:30. For a more intimate experience, Chef Ito’s pre-party in the penthouse starts at 5:00, with guest Howard Soon of Sandhill Winery. Get tickets by going to or make a reservation at Laurel Point (
