Power outages, ferry cancellations, #yyjWindApocalypse – must be November. If your Movember ‘stache isn’t keeping you toasty enough, warm those BC bodies from the inside out. Therapy Vineyards has won numerous awards not only for what’s in their bottles, but what’s on them. A marketing powerhouse, sharp sense of humour and savvy creative team have promoted the distinctive ink blot labels into the design world forefront since day one. Other wines in their portfolio include Freudian Sip and Pink Freud.I had the pleasure of meeting winemaker Steve Latchford recently. This blend, like all of his wines, vary vintage to vintage, dependent on what the vines have to offer. For the 2007 vintage of Super Ego, their premium red, the best grapes from the growing year are used. This year it was 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 2% Shiraz, and 2% Petite Verdot. Shiraz is relatively new to the blend, introduced into the mix in 2006. Opaque in the glass, the nose is big black fruit and smoke, with punchy flavours of plum, blackcurrants, bramble, vanilla, anise and cassis. Decant it today with warming venison or bison, but if you can check your Superego for a couple of years and wait for the elements to marry you’ll be rewarded.Rating: (click here to see what our wine ratings mean)EATrecommendsTherapy Vineyards Super Ego 2007Opaque in the glass, the nose is big black fruit and smoke, with punchy flavours of plum, blackcurants, bramble, vanilla, anise and cassis.
