These family-friendly (and free) events are a great way for people to browse and shop for handmade crafts, find fresh organic produce and enjoy a wide array of hot and cold foods.Though, when the sun sets Victoria’s night-market scene lights up. These open-air markets carry much of the same goods as the daytime markets with the added excitement of the night-time vibe. With plenty of food trucks on-site, night markets are a great place to go and grab some dinner, mingle with the crowds and socialize with friends. There’s often live music and again amazing street food to be had.These exciting public markets run from June to September attracting residents and visitors. They provide an opportunity for artisans and growers to promote and sell their goods in a vibrant night-time atmosphere.With summer almost over (can you believe it?!) be sure to check out Victoria’s summertime night-markets. Oak Bay Village Night Market Date: Every second Wednesday from June – September (next dates: August 12 and September 9)Time: 4pm – 8pmLocation: On Oak Bay Avenue between Monterey and Wilmot StreetFacebook: Almost 100 vendors gather together to showcase a variety of farm fresh produce, artisan bread, cakes, cookies and locally crafted items including jewelry, pottery, clothing and furniture.Market find: Live music, locally produced beer, wine and cider, artisan bread and roving magicians Oaklands Sunset Market Date: June 24 to September 2 (Wednesdays)Time 3:30pm – 8:30pm. Several food trucks and delicious hot food from around the city is on-site. Plenty of vendor tables are set up with fresh veggies, breads, canned and baked goods and other handmade delights and great live music.Market finds: Hoyne Brewing Company available in the beer garden (every second Wednesday). Ship Point Night Market Date: June 19 – September 19 (Weekends)Time: 7pm – 10:30pm (Note: No market August 14-15 during the Dragon Boat Festival)Location: Ship Point Pier, Inner Harbour (by Milestones Restaurant)More info: (250) 516-1769This night market offers a great mix of vendors and entertainment along Victoria’s beautiful inner harbour. Close to 75 vendors sell their crafts on the pier showcasing art, handcrafted jewelry, and great food. Live music can be found heard each week musicians from classical to heavy rock in an acoustic setting.Market Find: Fresh squeezed lemonade, Ogopogo mini donuts, Miguelito Mexican corn roast and frozen mango on a stick.
