Ah March – in a like a lion, out like a lamb. It’s the Flower Count (www.flowercount.com) this week in Victoria so regardless of the weather it’s our opportunity to feel smug about living here. No festivals this weekend but still lots going on.

Downtown Public Farmer’s Market Saturday 11 AM to 3 PM in Market Square. . I hit the market to pick up some fresh arugula, root vegetables for roasting, local cheese and a fresh baguette and some Smoky Tomato Salsa, it makes my weekend.

Cowichan Chef’s Table Special Event March 11th at Providence Farm in Chemainus

On March 11th, from 1 PM – 4 PM the Cowichan Chef’s Table will present a fundraiser for the MS Society. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity to sample the best of the Cowichan Valley food scene. The afternoon is a sit down, multi-course culinary feast pairing local foods and BC wines. Dishes will include canapés from the culinary students of VIU, an artisan pork terrine from Bruce’s Kitchen on Saltspring Island and a dish of braised duck and spices from Deerholme Farm to name a few.
