The Huber family has been based on this in Traisental site for nine generations, since 1778, and have been making wine from their land for the last five generations. Like most vineyards in Austria, the site is along the Traisen River, and the vines are planted along the river and up into the valley. The newest member of this vintage heritage is Markus Huber, in charge of winemaking since he was only 23 years old. Still in his 20’s, this dynamic young man is widely thought to be “one of the most promising new talents in the Austrian wine industry”. Old world techniques with new world style – both in and outside of the bottle.

Pale green-lemon in the glass, this GV has citrus, mineral, sherbet and lemon aromas. The round palate is bright with juicy acid, laced with flavours of stone, honey, white grapefruit and lime. An herbal honey note lingers on the refreshing finish. Well balanced and accessible, this is ready to drink now, or you could hold another year or two. I’d partner this up with Asian fare – star anise, lime, pork, cashews. Or the weight of halibut or Arctic char would suit stunningly as well.
